Contains spoilers to The Eye of Minds.
My last blog was about the beginning of The Eye of Minds, but I have finished reading it, so here is the completed review. I recommend reading my previous blog, as it contains context necessary to follow along with this blog.
After Michael received his task of stopping Kaine, he told about this to Bryson and Sarah while in the Sleep. To this day they haven't met together in real life. Bryson and Sarah were interested in this task, and they decided to join in on the adventure.
First the trio, in the VirtNet, went to Cutter, a hair-cutter, famous for knowing many secrets of the Sleep. Michael bribed Cutter by offering a ticket for the next virtual poker tournament. Cutter told them to go to the Black and Blue Club, and find Ronika, who will know how to find Kaine. Cutter also told them about The Path, which will lead them to Kaine.
With this information Michael with his friends went to the Black and Blue, but there were two BIG body guards guarding the club. They easily got passed them, by blackmailing them that they could get the body guards' information, and even erase their memory. After entering the club, Michael, Sarah, and Bryson walked around a bit, but then they literally sank through the floor, and found themselves in the room same room as Ronika. Ronika told them that by going on the Path, they would get to the Hallowed Ravine, which is where Kaine lives. She told them about a game "Devils of Destruction", a lame war game that only old people played. One of the trenches had a weakness in its code, through which it would be possible to get onto the path.
But while Ronika was telling them about this, Kaine had penetrated the Black and Blue Club. Kaine sent KillSims to attack Michael, his friends, and Ronika. KillSims are a dark shadow, shaped like a wolf or dog, who attack by biting. When they bite, they suck out the programming of their victim. KillSims are also called Anti-Programs, and they are Kaine's warriors. If a KillSim sucks someones program out in the VirtNet, their real life body's brain will also suffer, and they will become clinically insane. The four started running away from the KillSims, but one caught Michael, and started sucking his program out, but Bryson and Sarah were able to get the KillSim off Michael. Ronika wasn't so lucky. The KillSims completely sucked her programming out, and her Aura (virtual body) disintegrated in a flash of blue light.
After this Michael, Bryson, and Sarah got into the "Devils of Destruction" but they had to fight a tangent (body within the VirtNet that doesn't exist in the Wake) on the way there. In the "Devils of Destruction" they died many times, but eventually Sarah found the faulty trench, and the three friends entered the path. While on the Path, Michael, Sarah, and Bryson went through many adventures and obstacles to try to find Kaine. Many times they though they were there, only to be farther from the truth. Will they succeed in finding and defeating Kaine? Read the book to find out! Or click here if you're lazy.
The Eye of Minds is an amazing book, with adventure awaiting at every corner. I enjoyed reading the Eye of Minds just as much as the Maze Runner (another book by James Dashner). I can confidently say that James Dashner is my favorite author, since all the books he writes are packed with adventure and excitement, and I never get bored reading them.
